Windsor Booster Club By-Laws
Article I
The name of the organization shall be Windsor Booster Club.
Article II
Purpose:
The purpose of this educational organization is to foster activities that promote school sports and
school spirit through all athletic programs of the Middle and Senior High schools.
Article III
Membership:
A. Eligibility – Any interested persons whose goals are to encourage and help promote
Middle and Senior High school activities.
B. Only active voting age members in good standing shall be allowed to vote.
1. Requirements for active members shall be attending 3 regular meetings per calendar
year.
2. Volunteer and work minimum of 5 concession stand shifts per school year.
Article IV
Monies:
A. All monies received shall be deposited in US Bank under the name of Windsor Booster
Club, with up to four names appearing on the account. Two of these names must be the
President and Treasurer. All checks must have the signature of at least two of the four
persons named on the account.
B. The Board of Directors has the authority to approve expenditures, not to exceed $500.00,
without a vote from the membership. These expenditures would be for emergency
situations that occur between regularly scheduled meetings. A simple majority of the
Board of Directors (4) would be required for approval.
C. The Windsor Booster Club will award scholarships to graduating seniors, who have
received a varsity letter in sports. The number of scholarships is dependent upon the
availability of funds. Applicants must receive a majority vote in order to receive a
scholarship. Parents of applicants are excluded from participating in the voting process
or casting a vote. Parent(s) must be a active member(s) and based on the numbers of
years active, the service award scholarship amounts are as followed: 1 year $250, 2 years
$500, 3 years $750, 4 years $1000.
Article V
Government:
A. Board of Directors:
A Board of Directors consisting of the Officers and Trustees of the organization will
govern the Booster Club.
Officers:
The Officers of the Booster Club shall be a :
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
B. Trustees:
Up to six trustees shall serve on the Board in addition to the officers. These trustees shall include
Concession Coordinator, Spirit Coordinator and Supply Coordinator.
C. The officers and trustees shall vote into said offices at the regular May meeting and serve
until the end of the next school year.
D. Vacancies created in office by written resignation, withdrawal or death of an officer or
trustee during their term of office shall be filled by appointment of the officer or trustee with a
majority of the votes cast.
Article VI
Election:
The officers and trustees of the Booster Club shall be elected as follows:
Any eligible member can be nominated from the floor at the May meeting of the school year and
then must receive the majority of votes cast.
Article VII
Duties of Officers:
President: It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all Booster Club meetings, to observe
and enforce all provisions of the by-laws of the Booster Club, to make such orders as are
necessary for the proper administration of the affairs of the Booster Club; to call such meetings of
the officers and trustees as may be necessary, seeking counsel of said officers; also, to appoint
chairman of committees to serve Booster Club.
Vice President: It shall be the duty of the Vice President to, in the event of the vacancy of the
President, assumes the duties thereof. He or she will also perform such other duties assigned to
him or her by the President or Board of Directors.
Secretary: It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep a full record of all proceedings of the
Booster Club meetings and to notify all members of any special meetings. He or she shall see
that the minutes and all other records of the Booster Club are properly maintained and preserved.
Treasurer: It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to keep the financial account of the Booster Club,
to receive all monies due to Booster Club from any and all sources, entering same in the account
book, to report how said monies were received or spent; to deposit all monies in said bank in the
name of Windsor Booster Club and, to submit a report either verbal or written of incoming and
outgoing funds at each general meeting. Upon election of new Treasurer at the school year’s end,
he or she shall turn over all monies, books, papers and all other property belongings to Booster
Club.
Trustees: It shall be the duty of the Trustees to serve as advisors to the officers of the Booster
Club and perform such duties as may be requested by the officers or required by the By-Laws. It
shall also be the duty of the Trustees to make a special effort to attend the Booster meetings,
general and special.
The Board of Directors shall be responsible for verification of the accounts at least annually.
Article VIII
Meetings:
A. Windsor Booster Club shall meet regularly on the second Tuesday of each month, unless
a holiday or special function at school will be on said date. The meetings will then be held
on the next available Tuesday or other mutually agreed upon date.
B. The meetings shall be held at the Windsor High School Commons area at 6:30 p.m.
C. The President, as required, may call special meetings.
Article IX
Fundraising: The method of selecting the various projects, which the Booster Club may wish to
pursue, is as follows:
A. Any member of the Booster Club, at any regular meeting, may make suggestions or
special meetings called by the President, majority rules.
Article X
Amendments:
These By-Laws may be amended as follows:
A. The Board of Directors may recommend an amendment at any regular or special meeting.
The membership must approve the amendment by a simple majority vote.
B. Any member, without Board approval, may recommend an amendment at the regular May
meeting. The membership present must approve the amendment by a simple majority
vote.
